UV rays are invisible rays of light emitted by the sun. While some exposure to sunlight is healthy, too much exposure to UV rays can be harmful to the skin and eyes.
UVA and UVB rays are the ones that can reach our skin, so it’s essential to protect against them.
Young eyes are more susceptible to sun damage because they have larger pupils and clearer lenses.
Kids receive 3X MORE ANNUAL UV EXPOSURE than adults.
WHAT IS THE UV INDEX?
It’s a scale that measures the strength of UV rays on a particular day. The higher the index, the greater the risk of sunburn and other skin damage. Be sure to check the UV index daily and adjust your sun safety measures accordingly.
