    Sunglasses FAQs

It is recommended for babies to start wearing sunglasses at 6 months of age. Before this they should be kept out of the sun as much as possible. Keep the sun shade down on your pushchair and ensure your little one wears a sun hat.

People tend to opt for larger frames for sunglasses than they do with traditional glasses. This is because they offer more coverage and whilst they’re a necessity they can also be used as an accessory.

    • Look for high UV protection which will protect your kids' eyes.
    • If you love the water or snowy climates choose polarised lenses.
    • Opt for a quality lens you know will last from a brand you can trust, that’s us by the way!
    • Choose glasses that block 99-100 percent of UVA and UVB rays.
    • Make sure they cover a good proportion of your child’s eyes to offer full protection.
    • Buy durable shades, they will need to last!
    • Give your child the choice, they are the ones that are going to wear them.

Polarised sunglasses are useful if you're looking to reduce glare for your kids, which occurs when light bounces off surfaces. These work best in snowy landscapes, on sunny holidays or near water where glare is of real risk. Polarised lenses don't protect eyes any differently than non-polarised lenses.

All Babiators frames are made of a soft and flexible therma plastic rubber which makes them super comfortable and virtually indestructible. Our lenses in our original and screensavers styles are made from impact and shatter resistant polycarbonate, whilst our polarised lenses are made from TAC (Tri Acetate Cellulose).

Our sunglasses are available in sizes 0-2 years, 3-5 years, and 6 years+ meaning you can find the perfect fit for your little one. If your child is between sizes we recommend sizing up. You can use our size guide to measure up your kids for their sunnies here or find specific measurements on each product page.

Their eyes let more UV radiation in than those of an adult. Childrens eyes are still maturing and therefore need to be protected from harmful UV rays.

Opt for original lenses for day-to-day use unless you spend a lot of time around water where you made want to eliminate the risk of glare.

Babiators are Rx-able for certainprescriptions (-4 to +4). It's at the discretion of the optician. The lenses are removable/replaceable.
